We are a premiere grower of indoor and outdoor plants providing all your annual, perennial, floral, and holiday plant needs. We are one of the largest tropical and foliage growers in the Midwest. Located on the west side of Kansas City, we are geographically centered to deliver to independent garden centers, grocery stores, and big box stores. throughout the Midwest.

Position: The Merchandiser works on-site at assigned retail location(s) as a representative of Free state Growers to create and maintain clean, healthy plant displays. Ideal candidate enjoys working independently on a flexible schedule. Must have reliable transportation and a cell phone to communicate with Merchandiser Lead.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a pleasing visual presentation of Free State Growers products.
• Arrange tables and hanging basket displays by grouping like plants together and spacing plants to make tables always appear as full as possible.
• Clean plants by removing dead leaves, dump plants that are not sellable.
• Sweep up debris from floors and tables.
• Water plants as needed.
• Communicate with Merchandiser Lead during store visits to convey inventory levels and other important information regarding conditions of the store displays.
• Communicate with store management to establish and maintain beneficial display areas in the stores.
• Perform inventories as needed.

Physical demands:

• Work is to be done in the field and/or greenhouse for long periods of time.
• Assist in loading trucks with nursery products up to 50 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet.
• Work on your feet in bent positions for long periods of time.
• Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking.
• Work will require bending and stooping.
• Be physically able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations.

Work Environment:

• Environments can at times be dusty, warm, and humid.
• Exposure to wet weather early in the morning through the heat of the day. Extreme temperatures may range from -10 to 100 F.
• Work during occasional showers that are not severe enough to stop operations.
• Allergies may affect a worker's ability to perform the job.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: Starting at $13.00 per hour

Schedule: April 1 – September 30 - Maintain a 3 day per week schedule.

October 1 – March 31- Maintain a 2 day per week schedule.

• Monday to Friday
• Morning shift
• Weekends as needed

Ability to Relocate:

• Kansas City, KS: Relocate before starting work (Required)
